Does it Really Matter?

Close up, Macro or Fine Art

It continues to be a topic of discussion amongst art critics and photographers.  It can go on for hours trying to define macro from close up,fine art or not. Now, "Does it really Matter"?  Should the emphasis be on enjoying the image for its emotion, the story, the mood and how it makes you feel as the viewer?

I reached out to a friend of mine who is world renowned in the field of "Fine Art" photography and various other genres.

Mr. Parish Kohanim is a Canon Explorer of light.  His studio is in Atlanta. I would encourage you to visit his website,parishkohanim.com, and enjoy his work. below is his answer to my request on how hw sees "Fine Art". I think you will find it interesting.

It’s seems that we, humans, are fascinated to put a title on just about everything…. classify and categorize them. When Van Gogh was painting no one called him a “fine art painter”
To me a fine art work is one that has emanated from the soul and inspired by the divine. I don’t thinks that fine art only pertains to figurative work but also comprises a larger variety of object/subjects of beauty.
Although what some of the so-called art aficionados from major museums and art galleries now define as “fine Art” is appalling!
Be well and please stay in touch. Best wishes, Parish
